Let’s face it – the task of seeking out and cultivating a new playlist for your morning drives, your mid-shift rage-breaks, and your playhard after parties is time-consuming. It can be daunting opening up that old playlist and finding nothing that charges your batteries.
Here are found some noteworthy ditties from the fact-finding nerds of the world to help us widdle down our field of search.

So what does that mean for filling out my old iPod shuffle? Look where the real happenin’ tunes are happening that’s how. Over half of indie/rock fans are women, so I’m seeking out indie artists to interview who appeal to women in the DMV. Representation matters here too! Women don’t just listen to indie/rock more than men – they listen to more female artists.
The queer author in me is excited to tell you that just little over 10% of indie/rock fans are among the LGBTQ community. So naturally, I am already talking with artists from within our community there.
But, what else is missing from my playlist? Female artists! Female artists make up only about 14% of charting musicians on the charts according to Billboard.
